Town Cuts Water Testing from Budget

The town once again has targeted Crystal Lake for their annual chopping block for this year's budget cuts. A measly $5,000 was expended by the town on an annual basis to fund this program. Much of the work was already being done by volunteers such as Rusty Moody and Bill Merson. The funds are necessary to cover the actual laboratory tests, reports and equipment issues. In my opinion, this action is short-sighted on the Finance Committee's part. Crystal Lake is a resource all of Ellington enjoys and an asset that needs protecting. If you value Crystal Lake, please contact the Finsnce Committe or Board of Selectman to restore this important program!
